Congratulations to Ron Jesson and Keith Jury on being acclaimed to the above noted director positions with Beautiful Plains Credit Union Ltd. Both Ron and Keith were the incumbents whom stood for re-election to the BPCU board of directors.
I would like to let my name stand for nomination to be a Director of the Beautiful Plains Credit Union Board of Directors.
I was raised in Pelly, Saskatchewan. The Credit Union and Co-operative movement were important to my parents and I share the same enthusiasm for the ideals of our Credit Union.
I met my wife Olia while we attended Brandon University. We both graduated from Brandon University and pursued our careers in education; first in The Pas, and then here in Neepawa. I taught school for 32 years and in the last 10 years of my career, I was a teaching Vice Principal. We have two daughters and four grandchildren.
My community involvement includes:
- Charter member of Neepawa Kinsmen club.
- Held various executive positions including President.
- Was recipient of Kinsmen of the Year award.
- Member of Neepawa Rotary club.
- Parish council member at St.Dominic’s church.
- Finance chair for 20 years
- Appointed by Bishop as a Trustee for the Church Finance
- Numerous other involvements such as coaching, United Way, Youth Justice Committee, Neepawa Rec. Commission, etc.
I have been a director on our board for twenty years. I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to grow as a Director and feel that I have been a contributing member. I’m presently the President of the board. We have a strong hard working board and I know that I can effectively contribute to a positive future for our Beautiful Plains Credit Union.
Growing up on a farm just west of Eden, Manitoba I went to elementary school in Eden, and then graduated from high school at Neepawa and Area Collegiate Institute.
In 1980 I married Debbie and we settled on a farm west of Eden where we still reside today. We have raised a family of 3 – 2 daughters and a son. One of our daughters is a member of the RCMP, our other daughter and son work with us on the family farm. We also have two grandchildren that we enjoy spending time with.
I have been a part of various clubs and committees over the years. It started when I was younger where I was in the 4-H beef club for 9 years, and later became a leader of the Neepawa & Area Beef Club for more than 10 years. I was on the PFRA Allotment Committee for 12 years, and a committee member of the local Manitoba Pool Elevators for 9 years. Most recently I am a second-year board member of the Beautiful Plains Community Foundation, where I am Vice President.
In 1982 I joined the Board of Directors of the Beautiful Plains Credit Union and have seen our Credit Union grow into a positive influence throughout our community. I have served on many committees within our board and spent 25 years as President. I am currently the Vice President on the board of directors. I have greatly valued my time on the board, and have learned many things about our Credit Union system both Provincially and Nationally.
I am seeking re-election for another term on the Beautiful Plains Credit Union Board because I would like to remain in the decision-making process. As we continue to change and evolve with the ever-changing dynamics I believe my experience will maintain a stable influence and contribute to making Beautiful Plains Credit Union even better than it is today.
